Affiliate Disclosure

Many websites earn money through affiliate links. Surokkha Guide does not. There are no affiliate links anywhere on this website, and we do not earn a commission, fee or reward when you click on any link we publish. This page explains what affiliate links are, why we have chosen not to use them, and what we would do if that ever changed.

An affiliate link is a special link to a product or service that contains a tracking code. If a reader clicks it and then buys something or signs up, the website that published the link receives a commission from the seller. Affiliate links are common on shopping, travel and technology websites. They are legal in most places when properly disclosed, and they can be a fair way to fund a website.

The problem is that affiliate income can create a quiet incentive. A website that earns more when readers buy a particular product may, even without meaning to, write in a way that favours that product. Readers deserve to know when that incentive exists.

Why we do not use them

Surokkha Guide covers vaccine registration, vaccination certificates, travel health documents and routine immunization in Bangladesh. These are "your money or your life" topics: mistakes can affect a person's health, their ability to travel, or their job abroad. We think commercial incentives do not belong in content like this, for several reasons.

  • The most important actions are free and official. Registering for a vaccine and downloading or verifying a certificate happen on the official portal, surokkha.gov.bd. There is nothing for us to sell, and we do not want readers to think they need to pay anyone for these steps.
  • Health decisions need a professional, not a product link. Questions about vaccines, boosters and schedules should be discussed with a qualified health professional. A "buy now" link has no place next to that advice.
  • Trust is the whole point. Our readers include migrant workers, parents and people who may be dealing with official paperwork for the first time. They should be able to trust that every link we publish is there only because it helps them.

Every external link on Surokkha Guide is chosen for editorial reasons. Most point to official and authoritative sources: the official Surokkha portal, the Directorate General of Health Services at dghs.gov.bd, the World Health Organization, UNICEF Bangladesh and public travel-health pages such as CDC Travelers' Health. We do not receive anything from these organisations, and linking to them does not mean they endorse us.

How we choose sources is described in our sources and references policy. We do not sell links and we do not accept payment for link placement, as explained in our advertising disclosure.

If this ever changes

We have no plans to introduce affiliate links. If we ever decide to, for example to recommend a general item such as a document folder for keeping travel papers safe, we will update this page first and follow these rules:

  • Clear labelling. Any page containing an affiliate link will say so near the top of the page, before the first such link, in plain language.
  • No health products that need medical advice. We will never use affiliate links for vaccines, medicines, supplements, tests or any product where a reader should first speak to a doctor or other qualified health professional.
  • No document or certificate services. We will never earn money from services that offer to register people, download, correct, speed up or "arrange" vaccine certificates, visas, medical reports or other official documents.
  • No influence on recommendations. Commission rates will never affect what we recommend or how we rank options. If a product without an affiliate programme is better, we will recommend that one.
  • No changes to health guidance. Affiliate considerations will never be allowed to shape the medical or process information in our guides, which will continue to follow our editorial policy and fact-checking policy.

Because we do not use affiliate links, you should never see tracking codes or shortened redirect links in our guides. Official links to the Surokkha portal should always point to the surokkha.gov.bd address. If you ever find a link on our site that seems to go somewhere unexpected, or a page elsewhere that claims to be us and is selling something, please let us know. Anyone claiming to represent Surokkha Guide and asking for payment is not genuine.
